Types of Pets Seen

At Northeast Veterinary Hospital, we primarily provide care for:

  • Dogs
  • Cats

Acupuncture---Dr. Amy Ward and Dr. Tweed offer traditional veterinary acupuncture treatment on site, and are accredited and certified in the practice of acupuncture for animals.  For more information on veterinary acupuncture refer to the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) website

Appointments---Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. If you feel you have an urgent care need with your pet, please call us so that a staff member can advise you on your situation. If we cannot accommodate your pet's urgent needs, we can refer you on to a true emergency hospital.

Boarding---We provide boarding for pets with medical needs as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Please contact us ahead of time to make arrangements for the care of your pet.  Due to space limitations we cannot honor all requests during some of the busier holidays.

Dental Health---We offer comprehensive dental health care, including digital dental x-ray and ultrasonic dental cleaning, as well as tooth extraction services. We utilize dental nerve blocks, additional pain medication and antibiotics as needed for your individual pet.

Dietary Counseling---We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Digital Radiology Services---Our on-site, digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. All of our x-rays are then sent to a board certified radiologist for analysis and a formal report. We also offer digital dental radiology to assist in providing good dental care to your pets. If needed, we offer referrals to a board certified radiologist who performs ultrasounds, CAT scans and ultrasound guided biopsies and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.

Urgent Care---We are open 7 days a week (see business hours). If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get a regular appointment, our veterinarians may recommend a drop off in order to try and see your pet between already-scheduled appointments.

Individualized Flea Control Programs---We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet. The products we carry include Simparica Trio, Simparica, Comfortis, Revolution, and Frontline.

Laboratory---Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for hematocrit and total protein levels, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize Antech Diagnostic Lab for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, histopathology and specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification---We offer microchip identification for your pet (domestic and international protocols).
