Pet Loss Support Group - Seattle Animal Shelter

The Seattle Animal Shelter offers a Pet Loss Support Group to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where individuals can share their grief and receive emotional support. The group is facilitated by trained volunteers, and there is no fee to attend.

In addition to in-person and virtual support groups, several hotlines are available to offer immediate assistance from compassionate, trained individuals who can help you cope with the loss of a pet.

Pet Compassion Careline – West Coast Pet Memorial

The loss of a pet can be an incredibly emotional experience, whether expected or sudden. To help support grieving pet owners, West Coast Pet Memorial offers the Pet Compassion Careline, a 24/7 resource available in English, Spanish, and French. The Careline is staffed by professional counselors with Master’s or Ph.D. degrees and at least five years of experience in the field. All calls are answered immediately, ensuring confidential, compassionate support whenever it’s needed. This service is designed to provide pet parents and their families with ongoing emotional support during their time of grief.

Seattle Humane’s Pet Loss Support Group

Seattle Humane offers a Pet Loss Support Group, designed to help individuals process their grief in a supportive environment. There is no fee, and you may attend as often as necessary. The group meets virtually twice a month, providing a safe space to connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

Virtual Support Group Details:

  • When: 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
